Two people died and four others were critically injured in an automobile accident that occurred in West Babylon early on Saturday morning, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
Around one in the morning, the incident took place at the intersection of Great East Neck Road and Railroad Avenue.
According to the investigators, Michael Desmond, who is 33 years old and is from Lindenhurst, was operating a 2017 Kia sedan travelling westbound on Railroad Avenue when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Great East Neck Road.
After that, his vehicle collided with a Kia Seltos from the year 2025 that was travelling in the opposite direction on Great East Neck Road. The medical examiner pronounced Desmond deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the Seltos, named as Riley Goot, who was 18 years old and from Babylon, was transported to the Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
Bella Trezza, who was 17 years old at the time of the accident, was the driver of the Seltos. Two other passengers, Austin Trezza, who was 18 years old, and Jack Murphy, who was also 18 years old, were also sent to Good Samaritan University Hospital to receive medical treatment for their critical injuries.
Additionally, a passenger named Anthony Pagliuca, who was 16 years old and from West Babylon, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore in order to receive medical treatment for serious injuries.
