James Angelina, 24, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 25th. Billy was born on January 25th, 2000, in Delaware County, PA, the son of Michael Edward Angelina and Rosemary DiCocco Angelina.
Billy graduated from Penncrest High School in 2018, then went onto Elizabethtown College earning a degree in Mathematical Business with a Data Analytics Minor. He completed this 4-year degree in 3 years, while also making memories competing with his cross-country and track team at Elizabethtown and participating in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Bill worked as an Assistant Vice President at Guy Carpenter. He loved his job, and thoroughly enjoyed going into the office, spending time with teammates and colleagues. He’s also well-known for his success on their corporate softball team, “The Carps,” having earned MVP and always leaving it all on the field- as with everything he did.
He loved running. Bill ran Cross Country and Track throughout middle school, high school, college and continued running to the end. The running community meant so much to Bill, having loved his teammates, competitors and especially friends on Strava. He crushed 4 marathons – qualifying for the Boston marathon was a lifetime goal, and we’re so happy he got to achieve it.
Bill was our Mr. Brightside. Some of our favorite memories of Bill are at Phillies games, concerts in Philly, during Sandlot wiffle ball games, on the beach in Florida, and down the Jersey shore where he was known to stay up way too late with his older siblings, cousins, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends laughing together, playing card games & quoting SpongeBob, Family Guy, and countless other tv shows. Bill, however, was the only one who could stay up late hanging out with everyone on beach trips, and then go on to win a 5k race only hours after the next morning. His friends also describe him as “a better encyclopedia than Google”; a devoted Philly sports fan, Bill never shied away from spirited sports debates as his love for his teams made remembering all of their key facts and statistics easy. Bill accomplished more and gave us more incredible memories in his 24 years than many do in a lifetime.
On top of the fun times, Bill was always there for everyone and anyone who could use a smile during the mundane and bad times. Even if his message was just a Spongebob quote or funny video of a dog, he’d send something your way as a constant reminder he was thinking of you- especially when he knew you had a tough day. He’s known for his humor and wit, always quick with a joke. Bill was passionately inclusive; whether he knew you for 24 years or 24 minutes, he made you feel special and important to him. His track record of requests to be the “Best Man” in weddings, especially at such a young age, is a testament to the kind of guy he was. Bill credits his teammates and family to inspiring and motivating him everyday to be better. He was undoubtedly a hard worker and strove to be a great leader, in any endeavor he pursued.
