Delaware State Police have identified Joshua Reynoso-Velasquez, a 28-year-old man from Seaford, as the victim of a fatal car accident that occurred early Monday morning near Greenwood. Troopers responded to the scene at the intersection of Shawnee Road and Memory Road just before 5 a.m. following reports of the wreck.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found Reynoso-Velasquez deceased at the site of the crash. According to police, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which is a significant factor in the investigation.
Initial inquiries revealed that Reynoso-Velasquez was driving a Kia Sorento eastbound on Shawnee Road when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. He lost control of the vehicle, exiting the pavement, where it struck a telephone box and a gas line. After re-entering the road, the car swerved to the opposite side before colliding with a tree.
The Delaware State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use to ensure safety while driving. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Joshua Reynoso-Velasquez during this difficult time as the community mourns the loss of a life cut short.
