Hopewell, Virginia A homicide investigation is underway by the Hopewell Police Department following a shooting on High Avenue on September 22nd, which resulted in the death of a man.
The victim of the shooting on High Avenue on September 22 was Michael Gholson, 63, of Hopewell, who passed away on Wednesday, October 9, as reported by the police.
Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of High Avenue at approximately midnight on September 22 in response to a report of numerous gunshots. Officers discovered spent bullets in the road upon arrival. A man was informed by those on the scene that he had entered the emergency room with gunshot wounds that could have killed him, according to officials.
The 200 block of East Broadway was also the scene of an emergency call, with police responding to a male individual who was found lying in the hallway with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for additional treatment after emergency care personnel were sent to the site on East Broadway.Hopewell residents Gholson,67, and Reginald Wyche,67, were both named by police as victims of the shooting on High Avenue.
