It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Atkins, fondly known to many as ‘Trainspotter.’ David was a cherished member of our community, serving as our CAMRA Brewery Liaison Officer and bringing his unique passion for both brewing and campanology to life.
David’s love for real ale and his commitment to promoting local breweries made him a beloved figure among fellow enthusiasts. His knowledge and enthusiasm helped foster a vibrant community centered around the appreciation of craft beer. He was always eager to share recommendations and engage in lively discussions about brewing and the beer landscape.
Along with his work in the beer community, David also had a passion for campanology. He went around the nation, playing the enchanting melodies of church bells, and his devotion shone through in every show. Many people have happy memories of surprising him in unexpected places, such as when he was seen in Douglas, Isle of Man, just after leaving a church after ringing a bell.
Many people were moved by David’s contagious enthusiasm, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his interests. He has left us a legacy of happiness, camaraderie, and a devotion to the common ground that united us.
