Molly Deshotels Lafayette LA Obituary, Death: 33-year-old woman killed in vehicle crash identified – A tragic crash occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Lafayette woman, Molly Deshotels. The incident took place at approximately 3:50 a.m. at the intersection of Bertrand Drive and West Congress Street, according to Lafayette Police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Deshotels was traveling northbound on the 700 block of Bertrand Drive, driving in the inside lane. Surveillance footage and on-scene reports revealed that Deshotels ran a red light at the intersection and collided with another vehicle traveling westbound on the 2400 block of West Congress Street. The driver of the second vehicle was in the outside lane and had a yellow light as they proceeded through the intersection.
The crash caused significant damage, and Deshotels was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was injured and transported to Ochsner University Hospital and Clinic for medical treatment. Police indicated that the driver provided a voluntary blood sample, and while no signs of impairment were observed at the time, test results are still pending.
