Peter Wilson Death: When I learned of the demise of my great friend and bandmate, Peter Wilson, I was overcome with a profound sense of sorrow. Peter was not only an outstanding guitarist and vocalist, but he also possessed a lively personality, was a genuine delight to be around, and was an absolute master when it came to performing the blues. It was impossible to deny his talent; yet, what truly struck out was the passion and genuineness with which he played the instrument when he was performing.
The love of music was not the only thing that Peter and I had in common; we also had a similar fondness for canines who were of the power breed. Whenever he came to visit me, he never missed an opportunity to lavish my dogs with affection and play with them. He never failed to do so either. These were only a few of the countless ways in which Peter demonstrated his kind and compassionate personality. It is extremely upsetting to consider the fact that a significant number of the legendary figures from the Durban music scene have passed away.
Nevertheless, their legacy, particularly Peter’s, will not be forgotten at any time. In addition to teaching me the technique, he also instructed me on how to actually feel the song and make it sound authentic. He taught me a great deal about playing the blues. Rest in peace, my good friend. I would like to express my deepest condolences to Cassandra-Ann Fraser and the rest of her family during this trying time. Pete, we shall miss you, but your legacy will continue to be reflected in the music that we all adore and the memories that we all treasure.
