Ken Dimmock Death: Regrettably, Ken Dimmock died away today, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. Ken, who managed our bar for a number of years and became a Life Member in 2015, could be considered one of the most memorable members of our club. We were informed of the demise of Life Member Ken Dimmock today, and it is with a great deal of regret that we do so. An original member of the Brigade, Ken was a founding member. After gaining his way through the ranks and eventually becoming captain for a period of five years, Ken went on to become a Group Officer for the Gosford District for a period of twenty years.
The year 2008 was the year when he was given the “Retired Group Officer” rank. In addition to that, he was an important contributor to the management of the Gosford District Store. Ken received the RFS Long Service Awards and Medals, the National Medal and Clasps, and the National Emergency Medal for the 2019/2020 Bushfires in addition to being awarded Life Membership of the Brigade in the year 2000. Each of these awards was presented to Ken in addition to the National Emergency Medal. In fact, Ken was the one who taught and tested the majority of the senior brigade members that are in place now.
He was an advocate for teaching the members of the district, particularly pumps and anything related to hydraulics. The MacMasters Beach Surf Life Saving Club was another organization in which Ken played a significant role. Even though he had moved out of the neighbourhood a few years earlier, he continued to attend the station on a daily basis.
The people who are in our thoughts and prayers are our family and friends.
