Prince Albert police have identified the remains of a body discovered nearly three weeks ago as 41-year-old Darcy Rabbitskin. The body was found on October 16 in the 400 block of 19th Street East, prompting a police investigation to determine the individual’s identity and circumstances leading to his death.
The process of identifying Rabbitskin’s remains required the assistance of a forensic anthropologist and a forensic pathologist. Police noted that Rabbitskin was reported missing on October 22, five days after news of the body’s discovery had been made public.
According to authorities, the last time Rabbitskin’s family saw him was in July. Police interactions with him on July 16 described him as wearing a purple and blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and grey shoes, with long dark hair.
The Prince Albert Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Rabbitskin’s death, as the initial lack of identifying information posed a challenge to investigators. Following an autopsy on October 22, police could only confirm that the remains were male but could not immediately identify them.
CTV News sought further information from Prince Albert police on the challenges they faced during the identification process. Police Chief Patrick Nogier underscored the need for discretion to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
He noted that the circumstances around Rabbitskin’s death remain uncertain and, therefore, further details about the position or condition of the body at the discovery site would not be disclosed at this time.
Nogier also emphasized the importance of community involvement in solving this case. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information about Rabbitskin’s last known whereabouts or any details surrounding his death to reach out to the Prince Albert police.
The community now awaits answers as investigators work to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome, hoping to bring clarity and closure to Rabbitskin’s family and loved ones.
