Benjamin Dessange Death, Obituary – Benjamin Dessange, the youngest son of legendary French hairdresser Jacques Dessange, tragically passed away on November 5 at the age of 57. His death comes just a few years after his father, Jacques, a globally recognized icon in the hairdressing industry, passed away in 2020. Benjamin Dessange’s passing also follows a turbulent period in his life, marked by legal challenges and public scandal.
As the former Chairman of the Executive Board at Dessange International, Benjamin was heavily involved in the family’s luxury salon business, which his father founded. However, in 2014 and 2015, Benjamin became embroiled in a high-profile legal case when Annabel Talon, a former employee of Dessange International, accused him of severe sexual harassment. Talon claimed that between 2011 and 2013, she faced repeated inappropriate behavior from Dessange, including unwanted phone calls, physical violence, and sexually suggestive texts. She alleged that the harassment was a result of his position as her superior, which compounded the abuse of power she experienced.
In October 2022, Benjamin Dessange was formally indicted, and a trial was scheduled for April 2024. The case was primarily built on Talon’s testimony, corroborated by messages from Dessange that were deemed sexually explicit. Despite his denial, including claims of a consensual relationship with Talon, the court determined that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with a criminal trial, with aggravated charges of abuse of authority.
Following his legal battles and departure from the family business in 2018, Benjamin Dessange had no formal connection to the Dessange brand at the time of his death. The family has yet to announce funeral arrangements, and an obituary will be released in due course.
