Kara’s story is one of a dedicated mother, a hardworking professional, and a woman who cherished family and life’s simple joys. Though her sudden passing has left a profound sorrow in the hearts of many, her legacy will endure through the love she shared and the impact she made in her community.
Kara Ann Plambeck was born on December 30, 1974, in Davenport, Iowa, to Richard L. and Evelyn A. “Evie” (Ellis) Plambeck. She grew up in Davenport, a city she would always call home, surrounded by a close-knit family who were a constant source of support and love. Kara’s upbringing was one of comfort and care, filled with the guidance of her parents and the companionship of her brothers, Matt and Chad Plambeck. As a young girl, Kara was known for her kind nature, her infectious smile, and her deep sense of loyalty to those she loved.
She attended West High School in Davenport, where she graduated in 1993. Even as a teenager, Kara displayed a strong sense of independence and a desire to carve out a meaningful path in life. Her high school years were marked not only by academic achievement but also by the friendships she made, many of which would last throughout her life.
On September 20, 1997, Kara married the love of her life, Brian Linville, in a beautiful ceremony that reflected the deep bond they shared. The two were inseparable, and their love was a testament to the enduring power of commitment and mutual respect. Kara and Brian built a life together in Davenport, raising their two children, Brittany and Brendan Linville, with love, guidance, and wisdom.
Brian’s death in 2022 was a devastating loss for Kara, one that she carried with grace and resilience. Despite the heartache of losing her spouse, Kara remained focused on her family and continued to be a source of strength for her children and grandchildren. Her ability to weather such a difficult loss speaks volumes about her character, her love for her family, and her unwavering determination to keep moving forward.
Kara’s greatest joy was her family. As a mother, she was nurturing, patient, and incredibly proud of her children. She would often speak of them with great pride, whether recounting a special moment or simply sharing her love for them. Her children, Brittany (Sepe) Kalhor of Rock Island and Brendan Linville of Davenport, were at the center of her life, and she devoted herself to their well-being and happiness.
In addition to being a loving mother, Kara became a cherished grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren: Amir, Emrik, Carver, Autumn, Brody, and Addison. She adored each of them and took every opportunity to shower them with affection. Kara’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was known for her playful spirit and her ability to make those around her feel loved and cherished.
While Kara’s family was always her primary focus, she also found fulfillment in her work. For many years, Kara worked at Casey’s General Store located at 53rd and Division in Davenport. Known for her exceptional skills in making donuts and breakfast burritos, Kara’s culinary talents were a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. Her work ethic was exemplary, and she took pride in providing the best service possible to those she encountered.
It wasn’t just about the work for Kara; it was about connecting with the people in her community. Her customers became friends, and she made sure that each person who entered Casey’s felt valued and appreciated. Her infectious smile and warm personality made her a beloved figure in the Davenport area.
Outside of her work, Kara enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities. She was passionate about antiquing and shopping, often spending time looking for hidden treasures at local shops. Music was another of her passions, and she had a particular fondness for the bands U2 and Pearl Jam. Kara often found solace and joy in listening to music, and she shared this love with her family and friends.
Kara’s death leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her family takes comfort in the knowledge that her love and light will continue to shine through them. Kara’s passing was deeply felt by those closest to her, including her parents, Richard and Evie Plambeck, her brothers, Matt and Chad Plambeck, and her extended family and friends. While they mourn the loss of a mother, daughter, and sister, they are grateful for the memories they shared and the love she gave them throughout her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Kara’s loss is also felt by her larger community, including her coworkers, friends, and neighbors. Kara’s kindness, generosity, and strong sense of community made her a beloved figure in Davenport, and her absence will be felt by all who knew her. Her family has expressed deep gratitude to the neurosurgeons, ICU nurses, and staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, who provided loving care and comfort during her final days.
As her family prepares to honor Kara’s life, they have requested that memorials be made to two organizations that were important to her: Humility Homes and the Iowa Donor Network. Kara’s legacy is one of selflessness and generosity, and these donations will help carry forward her spirit of caring for others.
Kara A. Plambeck Linville may no longer walk among us, but her legacy of love, devotion to family, and commitment to her community will live on. Her memory will be cherished by her children, grandchildren, parents, brothers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. In the hearts of those she leaves behind, Kara’s light will continue to shine brightly, offering warmth and guidance to those who continue to love her.
As the family gathers to celebrate Kara’s life, they will remember the vibrant, compassionate, and loving woman she was. And though she may no longer be with them physically, Kara’s spirit will remain forever present in their hearts.
