Ignacio Mendiola Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with the murder of a West Side resident on Thanksgiving, according to the Chicago police.
he incident occurred at approximately 3:21 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Monroe Street in Garfield Park. The 62-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head when bullets penetrated the front window of what appeared to be a second-floor apartment.
He was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was initially reported to be in critical condition, as stated by the Chicago police. On Sunday, authorities confirmed the victim’s death, identifying him as Ignacio Mendiola.
A 29-year-old suspect was apprehended on Friday in the 200 block of W Garfield Boulevard. He has been identified as Gad Hughes, a resident of Cicero, Illinois. Hughes is facing one felony charge for first-degree murder, along with a felony charge for possession of heroin.
