Amethyst Privett Obituary, Death; – A driver has been charged in connection with a head-on collision that resulted in the death of his wife, according to officials in North Carolina. Brandon Privett was operating a Kia when state troopers reported that he was traveling at approximately 80 mph on a highway in Haywood County.
He attempted to overtake other vehicles by crossing the double yellow line, which led to a collision with a Subaru, as stated by 1st Sgt. B.E. Hipp of the N.C. State Highway Patrol during a phone interview with McClatchy News. The tragic incident occurred on Thanksgiving Day and claimed the life of his wife, Amethyst Privett, a 36-year-old passenger from Canton.
She is fondly remembered as a “beautiful soul” who brought happiness to those around her. Jessica Barrett, a Facebook user, expressed her sentiments, stating, “You always made everyone smile and laugh, you were the light to a lot of people’s darkness and you had no clue. You had a determination that when you put your mind to it, nothing could stop you. You left an imprint on a lot of people, and we will keep your memory shining!!”
Amethyst Privett tragically passed away at the scene of the accident, which was reported shortly before 2 p.m. on November 28 along N.C. Highway 110, approximately 20 miles southwest of Asheville. After the collision, the driver of the Subaru sustained serious injuries and was also taken to a hospital.
Brandon Privett and their two children, who were passengers in the Kia, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, as reported by troopers and The Mountaineer. Trooper Jonathan Shelton remarked to The Mountaineer, “It adds to it because you realize that someone has lost someone on a holiday. Thankfully, the two kids weren’t injured any more than they were.”
Brandon Privett is accused of exceeding the speed limit on the highway, and Sgt. Hipp indicated that troopers are still investigating the exact speed at which he was driving.
