Massachusetts Obituary – Cosmo Capobianco, a beloved member of the Massachusetts community, passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 72 after a brief illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cosmo was born on January 14, 1952, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Giovanni and Maria Capobianco. He grew up in Quincy, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and spent many hours hiking and fishing in the nearby woods and waterways. As a child, he was known for his curious mind and determination, always finding ways to turn everyday moments into great adventures. His youthful spirit and enthusiasm never waned, even into his later years.
In his adult life, Cosmo pursued a career as a general contractor. He founded Capobianco Construction in 1983, a business that would become a staple in the local community. His work ethic and dedication to quality earned him the respect of clients and colleagues alike, and his reputation for integrity was unmatched. Cosmo took immense pride in the work he did, and his company built many homes and businesses throughout the area, each one a testament to his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
In addition to being a father, Cosmo was a doting grandfather to four grandchildren: Sofia, Matteo, Oliver, and Emilia. He was often seen at their soccer games, school plays, and birthday parties, always encouraging them to follow their dreams and offering his advice when needed. His grandchildren adored him, and they will carry his legacy of love, generosity, and dedication throughout their lives.
Outside of work and family, Cosmo had a variety of interests. He was an avid gardener, known for his beautiful rose garden that was the envy of his neighborhood. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the local community center, where he was a member of the Italian-American Club. His love for music, especially jazz and classic rock, was well known, and his vinyl record collection was one of his proudest possessions. He had a gift for making others laugh, and his humor, combined with his deep knowledge of history and current events, made him a fascinating conversationalist.
Cosmo was predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Maria Capobianco. He is survived by his wife, Isabella; his children, Marco (Lisa), Gabriella (James), and Lucas (Nina); his grandchildren, Sofia, Matteo, Oliver, and Emilia; his sisters, Teresa (George) and Carmela (Anthony); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also a treasured friend to many.
A funeral mass will be held in his honor on December 5, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church in Quincy at 10:00 AM, followed by a burial at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of his life at the Capobianco family home immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quincy Youth Center, an organization Cosmo supported throughout his life.
Cosmo will be remembered for his love of family, his generosity, and his kind heart. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
