Genene Fisher Obituary, Death; – A man from Houston has been charged with the murder of a woman and a child after allegedly holding them hostage in their apartment, as reported by law enforcement officials.
Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, was discovered “asleep on the couch” in the apartment where police found a 28-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child, both fatally stabbed, at 12360 Richmond Avenue around 3:10 a.m. on Friday, November 29, according to a statement from the Houston Police Department. Family members identified the victims as Fisher’s sister, Genene, and her daughter, Karlie, as reported by ABC 13 News.
Authorities responded to the location after receiving a call indicating that a woman and child were being held hostage in the apartment, as stated by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Officers K. Clark and M. Nicotra in the release.
During his arrest, police reported that Fisher exhibited “injuries consistent with a physical altercation” and had “blood on his clothing.” Fisher has been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of the two victims and has been booked into Harris County Jail.
Jail records obtained by ABC 13 News indicate that Fisher had been released from prison in December 2023 after serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery, which had been extended due to a contraband offense while incarcerated. Reports suggest that there was “no tension” between Fisher and his sister at the time of the incident, according to the outlet.
A neighbor, Emmanuel Thomas, expressed his disbelief to ABC 13 News, stating, “I don’t understand hurting your own sister, hurting a woman, hurting another person, period. But what possessed you to hurt this baby?” “We could see no red flags. This was just completely out of the blue,” he added. Fisher has been denied bond, as confirmed by the police.
