Andrew Niblock, a cherished teacher, coach, and friend from Greenwich, Connecticut, has tragically passed away. Known for his boundless enthusiasm for education and sports, Andrew’s legacy is one of dedication to his students, his family, and his community. As the Director of Schoolwide Initiatives and an Upper School basketball coach at Greenwich Country Day School, Andrew had a profound impact on the lives of many.
Born and raised in New England, Andrew had the opportunity to call several places home, including Virginia and New Orleans. This diverse life experience shaped his compassionate approach to teaching and mentoring, influencing both his academic and athletic students in meaningful ways.
Andrew’s academic journey took him from Washington and Lee University, where he earned his undergraduate degree, to Loyola University in New Orleans and the University of Pennsylvania for his master’s degrees. His deep commitment to education and lifelong learning was evident in every aspect of his work.
Beyond his professional life, Andrew was a passionate fan of live music, good books, and sports. He was particularly devoted to basketball, both as a coach and as a lifelong fan, and his enthusiasm for the game was contagious to everyone around him. But perhaps his greatest pride came from his role as a father, where his love for his two boys was unmatched.
His presence at school events, his genuine interest in the lives of his students, and his unwavering support for his colleagues made him a pillar of the Greenwich Country Day community. Andrew’s passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by those who knew him, but his impact will undoubtedly live on through the lessons he imparted to so many.
