Ronald McMurphy Arrested; – A man from Concord has received a prison sentence for intentionally neglecting to collect or remit taxes, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Ronald McMurphy, aged 50, was sentenced on Thursday, December 12, to 18 months of incarceration. Following his prison term, McMurphy will be subject to a three-year supervised release. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay restitution amounting to $712,017. McMurphy entered a guilty plea on September 4, 2024, for failing to accurately report and remit trust fund taxes, according to a press release.
Furthermore, McMurphy held the position of president at Powertek Equipment, Inc., where he was similarly required to account for and pay employment taxes to the IRS. From the fourth quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2022, he willfully failed to fulfill this obligation for the employees of Powertek Equipment, Inc., accumulating an employer tax liability of $273,515.
