Marcos Corona-Vargas Arrested; – A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a man lost his life and two others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a residence in Lake County.
As reported by the Lake County Sheriff’s office, the three men were navigating the 1600 block of East End Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. Witnesses indicated that the car veered into the westbound lane before returning to the eastbound lane. Subsequently, the vehicle left the roadway and entered a yard, ultimately crashing into a house located at 21300 West Engle Drive. Authorities confirmed that the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
A 22-year-old man from Round Lake Beach, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. Another 22-year-old man from Round Lake Beach, positioned in the back seat, was seriously injured and transported to a medical facility for treatment.
The driver, identified by the Lake County Sheriff’s office as 31-year-old Marcos Corona-Vargas, also from Round Lake Beach, incurred serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Investigators concluded that Corona-Vargas was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He has since been charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence. The names of the passengers have not yet been disclosed.
