Mark Michaud Obituary, Death; – A man lost his life on Friday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer while trying to cross an off-ramp of Interstate 95 in Fairfield.
According to Lt. Aaron Turcotte, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Safety, dispatchers received a report at approximately 3:37 a.m. regarding a pedestrian being hit by a tractor-trailer near mile marker 132 in Fairfield.
Upon arrival, state police troopers discovered that the individual, identified as 49-year-old Mark Michaud from Fairfield, had attempted to cross the I-95 off-ramp at Exit 132 when the incident occurred. The tractor-trailer involved was operated by a 19-year-old man from Milford.
Although the exit ramp was initially closed, it has since been reopened as the Maine State Police conducted an investigation at the scene with the assistance of an accident reconstruction team. Additionally, the state police’s commercial motor vehicle unit examined the tractor-trailer, as noted in the release.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
