We are saddened to learn of the passing of long-time Guelph Police Service member and former Deputy Chief Don ‘Doc’ Porterfield. Mr. Porterfield, 72, passed away Thursday at Guelph General Hospital following a lengthy battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.
Mr. Porterfield began his career with the Guelph Police Service as a cadet in 1971. He worked in nearly every branch of the service during his 34-year career and was appointed Deputy Chief in 2001. His contributions to the service and community are immeasurable.
