Michelle Lawrence Obituary, Death; – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman who lost her life in a DUI-related accident on Saturday evening. As reported by the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Floral and Willow avenues, located west of Selma.
According to CHP, 24-year-old Saul Galvez Diaz was heading east on Floral Avenue when he crossed the center line to execute a left turn, resulting in a head-on collision with a westbound Nissan.
The front passenger in Diaz’s vehicle, 28-year-old Michelle Lawrence from Fresno, was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. Additionally, a nine-year-old girl seated behind Lawrence was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators reported that Diaz suffered moderate injuries and was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He is expected to be arrested on charges of driving under the influence once he is discharged from the hospital. The driver and front passenger of the Nissan were also taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
