Two people are dead, and a suspect is in custody following a shooting in Armstrong County Wednesday morning.
According to a criminal complaint, Kittanning police were called to the scene along the 100 block of Shaffer Lane in Washington Township around 2:40 a.m. for reports of a shooting that resulted in two casualties.
Upon conducting an investigation, officials learned the shooter and the two victims, aged 27 and 32, were at Ruby’s Den Burger & Spirits Bar and Grill before the shooting occurred, the complaint said.
The shooter, who was later identified as 56-year-old Scott Shaffer, invited the two individuals back to his home, arriving at his residence along Shaffer Lane prior to the two victims, the complaint said.
Upon his arrival, Shaffer grabbed a rifle and alerted his 18-year-old daughter, who was home at the time, to remain in her room and not come out, the complaint said.
The complaint outlines that later into the early morning hours Wednesday, Shaffer shot both victims and asked his daughter to hide the weapon. The complaint said his daughter then called 911.
Shaffer was taken into custody and confessed to police to shooting both victims.
