The fatal incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on the Riverside (91) Freeway near La Sierra Avenue in Riverside, involving Corlew’s patrol motorcycle and an SUV. Deputy Corlew was assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and was a valued member of its motor team.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Javier Navarro described the collision as a tragic accident, with the agency’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team working diligently to gather details. Witnesses reported that Corlew’s motorcycle collided with a dark-colored SUV, but further specifics were unavailable at the time.
