CHARLOTTE — Numerous flight delays and cancellations are being seen at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport ahead of winter weather.
Snow, ice and freezing rain are expected during a winter storm hitting the Charlotte area Friday afternoon.
As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, over 70 flights are delayed and over 690 flights are canceled, according to FlightAware. The airport recommends passengers check the status of their flight before heading to CLT.
The airfield and surrounding roads have been pretreated, and CLT’s snow team is working 12-hour shifts to de-ice vehicles and remove snow, the airport says.
The airport overlook is closed until noon on Saturday.
Charlotte isn’t the only city impacted. Thousands of flights across the U.S. have been delayed or canceled.
