A celebration of life ceremony for Andy Michnay, a beloved Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) freeski coach, will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, at 4 p.m. in Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill.
This event honors the legacy of a man whose contributions and influence profoundly shaped the lives of those around him. Michnay’s sudden passing has left a void not only in the SSWSC community but also in the hearts of countless individuals who were touched by his generosity, leadership, and unwavering kindness.
Michnay joined the SSWSC family in 2015, dedicating himself to fostering the growth and development of young athletes in the freeski program. His dedication and skill were recognized in 2022 when he was promoted to the role of director of the freeski program.
In this leadership position, Michnay not only honed the athletic abilities of his athletes but also cultivated an environment of support, respect, and camaraderie. He led by example, inspiring both his colleagues and the athletes to strive for excellence on and off the slopes.

Michnay was not just a coach or a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and a pillar of the community whose presence brought joy and stability to those who knew him.
