Michael McCorkle Death, Obituary: The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has established the identify of the bicyclist who unfortunately died in a hit-and-run event in Southeast on Wednesday, as the search for the culprit continues.
According to MPD, police responded to the 4500 block of Bowen Road about 9 p.m. on January 8 after receiving reports of a car colliding with a person.
According to investigations, the victim, 64-year-old Southeast resident Michael McCorkle, was walking his bicycle across the road in the 4400 block of Southern Avenue when he was struck by a car.
He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and the vehicle fled the area, as reported by the police. MPD has indicated that surveillance cameras captured footage of the suspect’s vehicle, which is available for viewing.
