A tragic crash occurred Friday evening on Highway 2 near North B Street in Appanoose County, Iowa, killing one and injuring two more. According to the Iowa Highway Patrol, around 6:04 p.m., a 2019 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 2 collided with a westbound 2024 Kia Telluride.
The crash killed 63-year-old Jeffrey Robert Underwood of Centerville, Iowa. Authorities discovered that Underwood was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which most likely contributed to his death.
The occupants of the Kia Telluride were 59-year-old Ronald Kevin Bedford and 68-year-old Esther Lorraine Bedford, both residents of Sun City West, Arizona. The couple was injured in the crash and was transported by Centerville EMS to Mercy Centerville for medical treatment. Fortunately, the Bedfords were wearing their seat belts, which may have helped minimize the severity of their injuries.
Bratz Towing towed the Ford F-150 and the Kia Telluride, the automobiles involved in the collision, off the scene. Although the cause of the collision has not yet been made public, authorities have stated that it happened just east of the crossroads of Highway 2 and North B Street, which is probably going to be a major area of investigational interest. The circumstances behind this fatal crash are still being looked into by the Iowa Highway Patrol.
