16-year-old Maddox Potter passed away today, Friday, January 24, 2025, after fighting a battle with cancer. Yesterday, his friends asked everyone to wear yellow/gold in support of Maddox and to raise awareness of childhood cancer.
Maddox (MadDog) Potter was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and is now terminal. He and his family have stopped all treatments so he can be home with his mom, dad and brothers.
Maddox attended GW High School in Kanawha County and his friends are requesting that EVERYONE IN ALL SCHOOLS in Kanawha and surrounding counties wear YELLOW/GOLD in support of finding a cure for childhood cancer THIS FRIDAY.

The George Washington High School community is mourning the loss and extending their support to Maddox’s family during this difficult time. Plans for a memorial service to honor Maddox’s life and legacy will be announced in the coming days.
Maddox will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his courage and the impact he made on those around him.
