Desmond Wilson Obituary, Death; – A 14-year-old boy from Detroit has tragically lost his life after exiting a vehicle that was partially positioned in a traffic lane on Interstate 41 in Wisconsin, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 9:32 p.m. local time on Wednesday, near Winnebago Street in Friendship, located in Fond du Lac County.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office reported that the initial communication to their Communications Center was regarding a crash. Upon the arrival of deputies, it was revealed that a dispute had arisen among the four individuals in a southbound vehicle, which included two adults and two teenagers. Consequently, the driver, identified as 49-year-old Glenn Wheaton from Detroit, pulled over to the median side, leaving the vehicle still partially in the traffic lane.
According to the report, the occupants exited the vehicle to continue their argument on Interstate 41. Among them was the 14-year-old boy, who left the rear passenger side and stepped into the traffic lane. Subsequently, another driver heading south, 20-year-old Evan Finnegan from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, collided with both the stopped vehicle and the 14-year-old, as reported by deputies.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased boy and the other teenager, also from Detroit, have not been disclosed by the authorities. The adult passenger has been identified as 31-year-old Desmond Wilson, also from Detroit.
Multiple local police and fire agencies, along with the county medical examiner’s office, the county highway department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol, assisted deputies at the scene.
Interstate 41 was closed for approximately four and a half hours due to the fatal incident and the subsequent investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the events leading up to the crash, and the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision is cooperating with the inquiry, as stated in the report.
