Steven tragically lost his life in an accident on the morning of January 21, 2025, at the age of 36. His unexpected passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, and we mourn the loss of a man who was as kind as he was hardworking, and whose life was full of promise.
Steven was born on March 12, 1988, in Stockton, California, where he lived his entire life. He was the cherished son of Maria and Manuel Carbajal and the loving brother to his younger sister, Isabella. From an early age, Steven was known for his energy, his curiosity, and his ability to make friends easily. He had a way of lighting up a room with his warm smile and infectious laugh, drawing people in with his easygoing and friendly nature. He was a loyal son, a protective brother, and a friend who could always be relied on.
Growing up in Stockton, Steven attended local schools where he was admired for his work ethic and dedication. Whether it was excelling in his studies or being involved in extracurricular activities, Steven was always determined to give his best. His teachers and peers remember him as someone who always helped others, offering a listening ear or lending a hand whenever needed. He was not one to seek attention for his kindness; he simply acted out of a genuine desire to help others.
After graduating from high school, Steven decided to pursue a career in the trades, and he worked diligently to build a solid foundation for himself. He found his calling as a skilled carpenter, and over the years, he became known for his craftsmanship, precision, and dedication to his work. Steven’s reputation in the Stockton community was one of integrity and excellence. He was a perfectionist in everything he did, taking immense pride in his work and striving to ensure every project he worked on was done to the highest standard.
His colleagues admired his strong work ethic, his ability to solve complex problems, and his unwavering commitment to delivering quality results. Outside of work, Steven was a passionate and caring individual who valued his relationships with friends and family above all else. He had a close-knit group of friends who regarded him as the heart of their circle.
Whether it was watching sports together, attending local events, or simply gathering for a weekend barbecue, Steven’s presence was always a source of comfort and joy. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel at ease, and he was often the one to lift the spirits of those who were feeling down. His sense of humor, wit, and infectious laugh were constants in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Steven’s family meant the world to him. As the eldest child, he always took his role as the protector of his sister Isabella seriously. They shared a bond that was unbreakable, and Steven would often go out of his way to ensure that Isabella was always taken care of. He was her confidant, her mentor, and her biggest supporter. His parents, Maria and Manuel, were incredibly proud of the man Steven had become. He showed them nothing but love and respect, always doing his best to make them proud.
In addition to his family, Steven had a deep love for his hometown of Stockton. He was proud of where he came from and did what he could to contribute to the community that had shaped him. He volunteered his time with local organizations, participating in events that benefited the underprivileged, and lending a hand to neighbors and friends in need. Steven never hesitated to help, and his kindness was felt by all who had the privilege of working with him.
Steven’s love of sports was another key part of who he was. Growing up, he played on local sports teams, and as an adult, he remained a passionate fan of basketball and football. He had a particular fondness for the Golden State Warriors, often spending hours watching games with friends, family, and fellow fans. Sports provided Steven with a sense of community, and he enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for the games with others.
Steven was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, camping, and spending time in nature. He appreciated the peace and beauty of the world around him, often taking weekend trips to explore the nearby mountains, lakes, and parks. These moments of tranquility in nature were some of Steven’s most cherished times, and he found great joy in disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of daily life to immerse himself in the outdoors.
The news of Steven’s tragic accident has left his family, friends, and all who knew him in shock and disbelief. Steven was a vibrant, caring, and deeply connected person, and his sudden loss has created an emptiness that will be difficult to fill. His family and friends are devastated, but they take comfort in knowing that Steven’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and loyalty will live on in the memories they hold of him.
Steven is survived by his loving parents, Maria and Manuel Carbajal; his devoted sister, Isabella; and numerous extended family members and close friends. His family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time, and they ask for continued prayers as they navigate the heart-wrenching loss of a beloved son and brother.
A funeral service to celebrate Steven’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Stockton Community Church, located at 1234 Main Street in Stockton, California. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The family invites all who knew Steven to join them in remembering his life, sharing stories, and honoring his legacy. A reception will follow the service at the church, where friends and family can gather to support one another and celebrate Steven’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity that supports underprivileged children in Stockton, a cause that Steven was deeply passionate about.
