The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating a tragic shooting that claimed the life of 22-year-old Jahaanz Wilson in the early hours of Sunday, January 26.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire in downtown Charlottesville and found Wilson critically injured.
He was rushed to the University of Virginia Medical Center but, despite efforts to save his life, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Preliminary investigations suggest Wilson was in the area prior to the shooting, which occurred in a location frequented by several individuals. Witnesses at the scene provided initial accounts, and detectives are working to identify the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
