Richard Rodeman,Christopher Lepine Obituary, Death; – Two individuals who lost their lives in a traffic accident involving two vehicles at an intersection near Gregory on Sunday evening have been named. The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the deceased drivers as Richard Rodeman, 45, from Corpus Christi, and Christopher Lepine, 36, from Portland.
Additionally, a third individual, Shaleigha Rada, 23, from Houston, was taken to Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi with serious injuries. The fatal incident occurred around 7 p.m. on January 26 at the intersection of Highway 188 and FM 136.
As reported by the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office, Rodeman was traveling south on FM 136 with Rada as a passenger when his vehicle crossed the center line into the path of oncoming traffic. Lepine, who was driving northbound, attempted to swerve left to avoid a collision with Rodeman’s vehicle, but the two cars collided head-on.
Despite Lepine’s efforts to evade the oncoming vehicle, his car was struck on the front end, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles. Following the impact, Lepine’s vehicle spun around and came to a stop in the northbound lane, while Rodeman’s car veered off the road, spun around, and ended up on the grass shoulder.
Both Rodeman and Lepine were pronounced dead at the scene. Rada sustained serious injuries and was subsequently transported to Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi. TX-188 was closed for approximately three and a half hours as emergency crews and investigators worked at the site.
