Xuewei He Obituary, Death;- A high-speed collision on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington has resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to several others. The driver of a pickup truck, currently hospitalized, is expected to face charges upon his discharge.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Monday when officers, stopped at a red light at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and N. George Mason Drive, observed a pickup truck speeding through the intersection and veering into oncoming traffic. As the truck continued eastward at an alarming speed, officers executed a U-turn to assess the situation, adhering to departmental policy that prohibited them from pursuing the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, the pickup truck collided with a white sedan that was turning onto Wilson Boulevard from N. Vermont Street. The impact propelled both vehicles into two additional cars that were halted at a nearby traffic signal. The driver of the sedan, identified as 32-year-old Xuewei He from McLean, Virginia, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries but ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck also sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Initial investigations indicate that prior to the fatal crash, the pickup truck had already collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and N. George Mason Drive, as well as a second vehicle traveling east on Wilson Boulevard. Furthermore, two vehicles were involved in a collision at Wilson Boulevard and N. Wakefield Street while attempting to evade the speeding truck. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from these incidents.
Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the pickup truck driver but have confirmed that he will face charges once he is medically cleared. The investigation is still ongoing.
