Maria Morales Obituary, Death; – The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a fatal accident that took place early Tuesday morning near Salinas, involving an ambulance.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:29 a.m. when a white and red Ford Transit ambulance, operated by American Medical Response, collided with a female pedestrian on the roadway.
According to CHP, a 33-year-old driver from Templeton was traveling south on Abbott Street, just south of Harris Road, when a female pedestrian unexpectedly entered the roadway directly in front of the ambulance.
“The ambulance attempted to swerve to avoid her, but the front right of the vehicle made contact with the pedestrian,” stated CHP. The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has identified her as Maria Morales, a 41-year-old resident of Salinas.
