Authorities report that a 22-year-old woman from Stillwater died in a collision on State Highway 33 in Payne County on Wednesday night.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report, the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. when a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, heading east on State Highway 33, attempted to pass four vehicles in a designated passing zone. During the maneuver, the Malibu collided head-on with a 2011 Ford F-250.
The driver of the Malibu, identified as Terra Richmond, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-250 was taken to a Stillwater hospital, treated, and later released. Troopers determined that improper overtaking without sufficient clearance caused the accident.
Pending the results of any investigations, the family of Terra Richmond may pursue a wrongful death claim. Survivors often seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.
Bond said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights. An attorney can be a valuable and compassionate resource to help guide a family during this difficult time and ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to.
