A 43-year-old resident of Creve Coeur was fatally struck by a vehicle on Monday morning along the 800 block of West Muller Road in East Peoria, according to authorities. The Peoria County Coroner identified the victim as Adam Harbison, who tragically succumbed to multiple blunt-force trauma injuries after being hit by a car shortly before 6:20 a.m.
The driver, whose name has not been released, remained at the scene following the incident.
The crash is currently under investigation by both the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police. Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized that pedestrians generally have the right of way when crossing streets or intersections, regardless of whether they are in a marked crosswalk. “It is always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” Bond stated.
As an experienced pedestrian accident attorney, Bond stressed the importance of an independent investigation in cases like this to protect the rights of the victim’s family and provide support during their recovery from such a tragic loss.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, Adam Harbison’s family may have the option to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from such a devastating incident.
Bond, a national legal analyst for Newsline, noted that grieving families often feel overwhelmed by the legal process designed to protect their rights. “An attorney can serve as a compassionate and valuable resource, helping guide families through difficult times and ensuring they receive the restitution they deserve,” Bond said.
“While no amount of money can truly compensate for the trauma and pain caused by a tragic accident, legal assistance can help ease financial burdens and provide a path forward,” Bond added.
