The shooting took place in the 300 block of South Highway W, prompting a response from both Lincoln County deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers around noon. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that evening, authorities identified the victim as 38-year-old Kevin M. Davis of Elsberry, Missouri, after notifying his family.
