KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A Lowell woman was killed Tuesday night when she collided with a deer and crashed in Vergennes Township.
The crash happened on Vergennes Street around 10:30 p.m., deputies say. The woman was driving a sedan eastbound when she hit the deer and lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and rolled in a wooded area.
The woman, identified as 36-year-old Suzanna Cooper, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies say she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is now reminding drivers to take safety precautions before hitting the road.
“As we continue our investigation, we want to remind everyone that seatbelts are one of the simplest ways to reduce the risk of serious injury in a crash. Please take a moment to buckle up every time you drive,” they said.
This crash remains under investigation.
