“On Tuesday, Lucy Pat was removed from life support. She ascended to Heaven early this morning. We find solace in the fact that she is free from pain. The nature of her passing is both shocking and sudden, far from what we anticipated or would have chosen. On January 31, police responded to a residence on Caribbean Court, near S John Young Parkway, following a report of a home invasion, after Lucy’s husband discovered her severely injured, as stated by police. Her husband dialed 911, reporting that a man, later identified as Ronald Davis, had forcibly entered their home and viciously attacked his wife.
She was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. On the morning of the incident, Davis knocked on Lucy’s door, claiming to be a community service officer, according to an arrest report. When she requested identification, he allegedly displayed his wallet, then forced his way inside and began assaulting her. Detectives reported that he struck her on the head with a crystal candy jar, rendering her unconscious. Officers noted that Davis subsequently stole several pieces of jewelry before leaving her bleeding on the floor.
