Matthew Craig Hudson, 55, of Lexington, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Known for his warmth, generosity, and easygoing nature, Matthew’s presence was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on November 30, 1969, in Saigon, Vietnam, Matthew’s journey to Lexington was one marked by resilience and love. He grew up in a home filled with care and compassion, and it was in Lexington that he would go on to leave a lasting impact. A long-time member of Cadentown Baptist Church, Matthew was a familiar and beloved figure in the local community. His friendly, approachable personality made him a favorite among those he encountered, and his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face was a testament to his truly special nature.
Matthew loved the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in the everyday moments that others might overlook. In addition to his immediate family, Matthew was loved by his aunts and uncle, including Marshall Holland (James) of Louisville, Jonathan Thurman of Lexington, Cindy Bean, and Gina Penny, both of Lawrenceburg. He also leaves behind a special group of friends, including Marcy Hall, Missy Hall, and Samuel Thompson, who will miss him dearly. Matthew was deeply connected to his extended family and a wide circle of cousins, all of whom will carry his memory forward.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Johnny Lewis Thurman, Sr., and his aunt, Lori Penny. Their loss, along with his own, is felt deeply by all who knew them.
