Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are actively investigating a tragic motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of 56-year-old Isadore Morton Gudelsky of Bethesda.
The fatal crash occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in the 2600 block of Olney Sandy Spring Road. According to preliminary reports, the incident took place at approximately 2:38 p.m. when a blue 2013 Lexus RX350 was exiting an assisted living facility and attempting to merge onto Olney Sandy Spring Road.
At the same time, a green 2019 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a juvenile male, was traveling westbound on the roadway. As the Lexus entered the lane of travel, the Jeep collided with it, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles.
Fire and rescue crews worked diligently to extricate him from the wreckage before transporting him to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Gudelsky succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital.
Additionally, an adult female passenger in the Lexus sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Authorities have confirmed that her injuries are non-life-threatening, and she is expected to recover.
The driver of the Jeep, a juvenile male, also suffered injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken charge of the investigation, working to determine the precise cause of the crash.
Investigators are examining various factors, including possible speed violations, driver error, visibility issues, and other roadway conditions that may have contributed to the collision.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding whether any charges will be filed in connection with the accident. The police department is urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
