Landon Akins Cadogan Death and Obituary – On Saturday, March 22, 2025, the community of Cadogan and those who knew Landon Avery Akins were devastated to hear of his untimely passing in a fatal car accident. At just 16 years old, Landon’s life was cut short, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and countless memories. The tragic event has left his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with the loss of such a vibrant and promising young man.
Born on August 4, 2008, in Kittanning, Landon was the beloved son of Leighann (Greg) Berry and the late Barry Alan Akins, Jr., with Ami Akins also surviving as his stepmother. From a young age, Landon demonstrated an adventurous spirit and a boundless zest for life. He brought energy and joy to every room he entered, and his laughter was infectious, often lifting the spirits of those around him.
Landon’s passion for life extended into many areas. He was a student at Armstrong Jr./Sr. High School and had big plans for his future. Determined to carve out a successful career, he aspired to attend Lenape Tech for welding, where he dreamed of developing skills that would allow him to build a bright future. His determination and ambition were matched by his love for the outdoors. Landon was an avid dirt bike rider, spending countless hours racing with his best friend, Awres.
His enthusiasm for outdoor activities was not limited to dirt biking. Landon enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping—activities that allowed him to connect with nature and unwind from the pressures of everyday life. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family, especially during the yearly deer camp, and relished the warmth and companionship of bonfires at the Riggle house. His adventurous and kind-hearted nature made him a beloved figure among friends and family.
Landon’s untimely death has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Barry Alan “Bear” Akins, Jr., who had passed away previously, and it is a comfort to think that Landon has now joined him in heaven. He was also preceded by his grandfather, Tim Berry, Sr., and great-grandparents Arthur and Martha Akins, Carl and Stella Trusiak, Robert and Irene Cypher, and Donald and Martha Knappenberger. Despite this heavy loss, Landon’s family remains strong, united by their love for him.
He leaves behind his devoted mother, Leighann Berry, and stepfather Greg Berry, as well as his stepmother, Ami Akins. Landon is survived by his siblings: Lanna Marie (Dustin), Hunter (Genevieve), Nikayla (Kelley), and Elijah. His extended family includes his grandparents, Robert and Kim Knappenberger, Charles and Laurie Toy, Barry and Cynthia “Nin and Pop” Akins, Sr., Sandra Berry, David and Deb Weaver, and Lynus and Peggy Barr, all of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Landon’s best friend, Corey Riggle, who held a special place in his heart, along with his great-grandmother, Sh, were integral parts of his life and will feel the weight of his loss deeply.
Though Landon’s life was tragically short, the impact he made on everyone he met will not soon be forgotten. His contagious smile, adventurous spirit, and unwavering kindness created memories that will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. While his family and friends will undoubtedly miss him every day, they find comfort in knowing that his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Landon Avery Akins leaves behind a lasting legacy, not just in the people he loved, but in the joy and light he brought into the world during his 16 years. His journey may have been brief, but his impact was immense, and he will be dearly missed.
