Jefferson Township, PA – A devastating two-vehicle accident in Jefferson Township on Route 356 has claimed the life of 96-year-old Lillian Bachman of Butler. The crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection with Burtner Road.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident unfolded when 92-year-old Owen Stepp of Sarver attempted to pull out from Burtner Road onto Route 356. In doing so, he moved directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by 50-year-old Thomas Paserba of Aspinwall. Despite Paserba’s attempt to swerve and avoid the collision, the two vehicles crashed, resulting in catastrophic consequences.
Bachman, a passenger in Stepp’s car, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a local medical facility, where she tragically succumbed to her wounds. Stepp was also transported to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment, though details regarding his condition remain unknown.
Emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene, closing a portion of Route 356 while authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
