The community of Beverly, Massachusetts, and all who knew and loved him are mourning the loss of Michael Frederick Beck, who passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 38. Surrounded by the love of his family during his final moments, Michael’s passing leaves a deep and lasting impact on his family, friends, and colleagues.
Born on September 5, 1986, Michael’s life was defined by compassion, curiosity, and a profound sense of purpose. Raised in Williamsville, New York, he graduated from Williamsville North High School, where his intellect and warmth earned him the admiration of peers and teachers alike. He went on to pursue higher education at the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a degree in Marine Affairs—uniting his love for the ocean with a desire to make a difference in the world.
Professionally, Michael brought that same passion and dedication to his work as a Consumer Safety Officer for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in Gloucester, MA. His colleagues remember him as a thoughtful and meticulous professional who cared deeply about the integrity of his work and the well-being of the public. His contributions to marine safety and policy were significant, and his legacy in the field will continue to inspire.
But beyond his accomplishments, Michael was defined by the love he gave so freely to those around him. He was the beloved son of Frederick and Carol Beck, and a devoted brother to Melissa Baker and Christina Koppes. His role as uncle to Cian, James, and Kylie brought him immeasurable joy—he doted on them with love, patience, and pride. His family lovingly recalls his gentle nature, sense of humor, and the quiet strength he brought into every room.
“He left us way too soon,” his family shared in a heartfelt statement. “But his memory will never fade. Michael’s presence was a gift to us all—kind, caring, and deeply thoughtful.”
A man of many interests, Michael found solace and wonder in the natural world. He was an advocate for environmental preservation, and his family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Ocean Conservancy, a cause that held deep meaning for him.
Plans for a Celebration of Life are being organized and will be announced at a later date. The event will be a time for those who knew Michael to come together in remembrance, to share stories, and to celebrate the extraordinary life he lived.
Michael’s spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched, the causes he championed, and the love he leaves behind. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the way he made others feel—valued, heard, and deeply cared for.
