Stanton Car Accident — A 55-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision involving a suspected drunk driver late Tuesday night in Orange County.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. on April 2 at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Pacific Avenue in Stanton, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities say the driver of a Dodge sedan, later identified as 30-year-old James Anthony Deleon of Irvine, collided head-on with a Toyota van. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to strike a third, parked car nearby. The driver of the van, Hoanh Thanh Ngo of Stanton, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
After the crash, Deleon allegedly fled the scene on foot but was located shortly afterward by deputies. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI with a prior conviction and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of murder and DUI causing injury.
The incident remains under active investigation by the OCSD’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
