SURPRISE, Ariz. — A tragic discovery in Surprise has left the community searching for answers. The body of a young woman, later identified as 23-year-old Raquel Marie Morales of Surprise, was found in a landfill on April 17. The grim find was made by an employee of the privately-operated landfill near 195th Avenue and Deer Valley Road, around 7 a.m.
The Surprise Police Department confirmed the identification of Morales on May 1, and authorities have appealed to the public for any tips that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.
