The community is grieving the loss of Luis Antonio Figueroa Jr., 37, who tragically passed away following a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning, May 3, 2025.
Around 4:30 a.m., Fort Wayne police responded to reports of a man found lying on the ground near the intersection of South Lafayette and Williams Streets, with a bicycle nearby. Luis was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.
An investigation by law enforcement revealed that Luis was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene. The Allen County Coroner’s Office determined that he died from multiple blunt force injuries. His death has been ruled accidental.
Luis Antonio Figueroa Jr. is the 17th person to lose their life in a traffic-related incident in Allen County this year. His passing serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of road safety and accountability.
