Dan Workman, a devoted public servant and beloved letter carrier in Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 59. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), the U.S. Postal Service, and the entire Grand Junction community he faithfully served for over a decade.

For many residents along his postal route, Dan was more than just the person who delivered their mail—he was a friendly, familiar face who brightened their day with a smile and a kind word. Known for his strong work ethic, unwavering dedication, and warm personality, Dan carried the spirit of service in every step he took along the neighborhood streets. His commitment extended beyond the job, as he was a mentor and trusted friend to his fellow postal workers and a pillar of support within the local union.

Dan’s life was defined by service—not just in delivering letters and packages, but in the genuine care he showed to his coworkers and community. He took pride in every detail of his work, always ensuring that residents received their mail promptly and accurately. Yet, it was his humility, kindness, and sense of humor that truly distinguished him. Colleagues remember him as someone who could lighten the heaviest day with a joke or a thoughtful gesture, and as a patient listener who offered support whenever it was needed.

His passing is a profound loss not only to the postal service but to the many families and individuals who came to rely on him as a daily connection to their world. The NALC and USPS have expressed deep sorrow, recognizing Dan as a symbol of dedication and the human side of public service. His commitment embodied the values of reliability, respect, and community spirit—qualities that have long been the backbone of the postal service.

As the community mourns, arrangements for a memorial and a community gathering are being planned to honor Dan’s life and legacy. These events will offer an opportunity for friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to come together, share memories, and celebrate the impact Dan had on so many lives. The announcement will provide details on how residents can participate and pay tribute to a man who gave so much of himself.

Dan’s family and union brothers and sisters are receiving an outpouring of support and condolences from across the region. His legacy of dedication, compassion, and friendship will endure through the countless letters he delivered and the lives he touched along the way.

Rest in peace, Dan Workman. Your service, spirit, and friendship will never be forgotten.
