Zack Peters Obituary-Death; Zackery ‘Zack’ Scott Peters, Ringgold High School Alum Passed Away at 40

Zackery Scott Peters, age 40, left this Earth far too soon on June 3, 2025. Born on June 8, 1984, to Mark Peters and Teresa Baskette, Zack was a lifelong resident of Catoosa County and a beloved presence in the greater Chattanooga area.

With his quick wit, generous spirit, and boundless love for his family and community, Zack made an indelible mark on all who had the joy of knowing him. Zack’s story is one of love from the very beginning.

He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Kristen Peters, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their two children, Ariel and Romeo, were the center of Zack’s world.

He was a proud and devoted father, deeply involved in their lives—coaching, cheering, supporting, and being their biggest fan both on and off the field. A 2002 graduate of Ringgold High School, Zack went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Kennesaw State University in 2007.

Professionally, he found great success and fulfillment working as a realtor in the greater Chattanooga area. Clients quickly became friends, and his honesty, charm, and knowledge of the area made him one of the most trusted and well-loved in the business.

But real estate was only one of the many ways Zack invested in his community—his true legacy was his service to others. Zack had a heart for people. He never met a stranger, and if he had, he probably offered them a seat at his table or tickets to the game.

He was especially passionate about supporting the students of Catoosa County, regularly volunteering his time and resources to ensure every child had a chance to succeed. He was deeply involved in local youth sports and school events and never hesitated to show up for the kids who needed him.

He was a die-hard Tennessee Vols fan, sticking by the team through every heartbreak, coaching change, and comeback. He also bled orange and blue for the Denver Broncos—especially after Peyton Manning, his favorite quarterback, joined the team.

Zack loved sports, but more than that, he loved watching them with his family, especially when Ariel and Romeo were the stars of the show. He could quote just about any movie on command, adding humor and levity wherever he went.

Lately, he found peace in quiet drives through the Battlefield, feeding the deer and soaking in the simple beauty of nature. Zack is survived by his beloved wife Kristen and their children Ariel and Romeo; his father Mark (Deborah) Peters; his mother Teresa (David) Baskette; his brother Ben (Lisa) Peters; his sister Heather (Carl) Scott; his sister Courtney Baskette; and six adored nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Fay Peters, and Joe and Betsy DiPrima. Zack despised the idea of a traditional funeral—crowds were never his thing.

He’d often say, “If we leave right now…” as his way of ducking out early. To honor his wishes, a visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th from 2–6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. There will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers, Zack’s family asks that donations be made to the Catoosa Children’s Fund for Catoosa County Public Schools. Zack always insisted he was “paid up” in this life, and nothing would honor his memory more than continuing to support the kids in his community.

As Zach Bryan would say, “Stand Tall.” We love you better, Zack. Thank you for everything.
