With heavy hearts, the family of Harold Williams, a beloved resident of Gadsden, South Carolina, announces his peaceful passing on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the age of 68. Harold’s death marks the loss of a respected community member, a dedicated family man, and a cherished friend. Surrounded by loved ones, Harold’s passing left an indelible void in the lives of those who knew him.

Born on April 5, 1957, in Gadsden, Harold was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Jackson) Williams. A lifelong resident of Gadsden, Harold was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He was a man who worked tirelessly, driven by a strong work ethic and an unshakable sense of responsibility. His contributions to his community were numerous, from the homes he built to the help he gave his friends and neighbors. Harold’s life was defined by his commitment to making Gadsden a better place for those who lived there, all while never seeking the spotlight.

As a contractor, Harold spent much of his career applying his craftsmanship to various construction projects. Whether building new homes or helping others with home improvement, Harold took immense pride in his work. He had a natural talent for construction, which, combined with his meticulous attention to detail, made him a sought-after contractor in the area. He was a trusted figure in the community, admired not only for his skills but also for his honesty and integrity. Harold was known for always doing a job right, no matter how small or large the project was. His work was a testament to his dedication and the love he had for his craft.

Outside of his career, Harold’s love for family was central to his life. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Linda Williams, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Their bond was one of mutual respect, love, and shared memories that spanned decades. Harold cherished his role as a father, taking great pride in raising his children and being present in their lives. His love for them was unwavering, and he worked hard to provide for them and to offer them a safe and loving home.

The role of a grandfather was one Harold took to heart with as much enthusiasm as he had with his own children. Harold adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, whether it was sharing stories, teaching them how to fish, or simply being there to offer his support and love. To Harold, family was everything, and he would do anything to ensure they felt loved and supported. His grandchildren, Sophie, Evan, and Luke, brought him immense joy and happiness, and they will forever carry with them the memories of the love he gave them.

In addition to his family, Harold found great fulfillment in his time spent outdoors. His love for fishing was well-known among friends and family. Harold cherished quiet moments on the water, finding peace and solace in the simplicity of nature. He also enjoyed gardening, spending hours tending to his plants and watching them grow. His green thumb was something many people admired, and his yard was often a reflection of his nurturing nature. To Harold, nature was both a hobby and a way to unwind, a place where he could disconnect from the world and recharge his spirit.

One of Harold’s defining qualities was his sense of humor. Those who knew him were quick to recall his ability to make people laugh and brighten their day. He had a warm and inviting personality, and his stories were always filled with humor and wit. Harold could turn an ordinary conversation into a memorable experience, and his laughter was contagious. His easygoing nature made him a beloved figure among his friends, who treasured his company and appreciated his ability to make them smile, no matter what challenges they were facing.

Harold’s strong sense of faith was another central part of his life. He was an active member of the Gadsden Baptist Church, where he found comfort and strength in his beliefs. His faith guided him through the many highs and lows of his life, and he was a faithful servant of his church and community. Harold often volunteered his time at the church, offering help wherever it was needed. His service to others was a reflection of his deep commitment to his faith and his belief in the importance of giving back. Whether it was lending a hand during church events or helping fellow church members, Harold’s actions spoke volumes about his character.

In the community, Harold was recognized for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He was always the first person to offer assistance, whether it was lending a hand to a neighbor in need or supporting a local cause. He understood the value of a close-knit community and worked hard to contribute to it in meaningful ways. Harold’s spirit of service was evident not only in his work but also in his personal life, where he continually sought to make life better for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, kindness, and integrity that will never be forgotten.

Harold is survived by his children, Jason (Sara) Williams, and Melissa (David) Edwards, along with his beloved grandchildren, Sophie, Evan, and Luke. He is also survived by his siblings, James Williams, and Margaret Green, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Harold’s death has left a profound sadness in the hearts of his family, but his memory will live on through them and the countless lives he touched throughout his life.

The community of Gadsden has lost a truly remarkable individual, a man whose impact was felt far beyond his work as a contractor. Harold Williams will be remembered not only for his skills but also for his kind heart, his unwavering love for his family, and his tireless efforts to help others. He was a man who lived his life with integrity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy will be carried forward by his family and community.

A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Gadsden Baptist Church, 123 Church Street, Gadsden. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of Harold’s life. The service will provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together and reflect on the life of a man who was a true pillar of the community. After the service, Harold will be laid to rest in the Gadsden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gadsden Baptist Church or a charity of your choice in Harold’s memory. These donations will help continue the work Harold was so passionate about, supporting causes that were close to his heart. His family asks that anyone who knew Harold honor his memory through acts of kindness and service to others, just as he did throughout his life.

Harold Williams will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Gadsden community. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for others will live on for generations to come. Harold’s memory will be forever etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
